Rain didn't stop play...

News pics Yes, it rained - but the showers stopped and the Charity Cricket Match went ahead slightly later than scheduled. In a thrilling 30 over match, Essex's David Masters smashed a century and claimed two wickets. The stars came out - Graeme Hick, Graham Napier, Joe Lewis, Jeff Thomson, Joe Kinnear, Barry Fry, all rounded up by David English and James Major to strut their stuff for Dame Norma Major's favourite charity Mencap. BBC Cambs radio presenter Jeremy Sallis turned up after being invited live on air that morning - unfortunately registered a duck but managed to catch Matthew Walker out. Alconbury player Ryan Tyler hit a fantastic 50 as Dame Norma's side struggled to contend with the Bunbury's 20 fielders! The Bunburys ran out winners by 104 runs. An excellent day was had by all and thanks go to all those who advertised, donated prizes, gave up their time and helped us to raise around 3,000 for a very worthwhile cause. David English also presented Dame Norma with a guitar signed by Barry Gibb which will go to auction later in the year. More pics in the photo section. Looking forward to 2010...
